BAMBOOZLE LEFT DAY 1

This was by far the best Bamboozle yet!

Here are our highlights:

SATURDAY!

We got to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre around 1:30pm.  It took us about 20 minutes to figure out where everything was, but once we did, we headed down to the Main Stage just in time to catch Van Stone. We discovered them at last year’s Bamboozle so it felt only appropriate to start our day rocking out to their vulgar jams.  Studded thongs, assless chaps, novelty guitars, and a huge dildo that sprayed the crowd with white mystery fluid… If that’s not rock n roll we don’t know what is.

After their set, we walked around a bit and discovered right away that Paramore was the driving force behind the entire shindig;  hundreds of little girls and their parents were sporting Paramore gear and walked around aimlessly throughout the day just to waste time until their favorite band came on.  Usually we would make fun of people who wear a band’s t-shirt to a concert, but we didn’t mind, it was good to see Paramore getting so much love!

The Starting Line played an incredible set!  They played both old and new songs, all of which got the crowd going.  Towards the end of the set, we were sad to learn that it was probably one of their last performances for awhile due to their indefinite hiatus.  TSL said their goodbyes, thanked their fans, and acknowledged the other bands playing at Saturday’s festival that have supported them throughout the years.

Appropriately enough, the Rx Bandits, a one time label mate, hit the stage directly after them and reminded Bamboozle that it’s definitely ok to play ska and more importantly, Rx Bandits rip that shit up!

New Found Glory always gives a solid performance… Reel Big Fish still hangs in there with the younger guys…

But most impressive in the afternoon was the Bouncing Souls.  It almost seemed as if lead singer, Greg Attonito, was SOBER!  He finished all their songs and even jumped into the crowd a few times to rock out with some of their die hard fans.  We gave a long applaud to the New Jersey natives for a great set and what seemed like Greg’s sobriety.

Other highlights included, Alkaline Trio, who may not always have the highest energy in their sets, but the line-up was still pretty rad…We were happy to see Face to Face make their comeback…Jimmy Eat World rocked it…and Paramore of course can do no wrong.  Hailey is a goddess on stage and there’s a reason why the population of Bamboozle went crazy to every song played.

Here’s an interview with Paramore and All-American Rejects!

Overall, it was a great day in Irvine, California!  Incredible music, great fans, and we were stoked to be there partying up with all of you!
